A Celebration of Women in Boxing: WBC Women's Summit
and International Women's Boxing Hall of Fame
-by Sue Fox (APR 10)
A unique celebration took place recently at the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las
Vegas. Over four days from April 2 to April 5th. The spotlight was shone on
women in boxing, as the WBC Women's Summit and the International Women's Boxing
Hall of Fame (IWBHF) held back-to-back events. These gatherings not only honored
past and present champions but also brought together the community that drives
the sport forward.
The WBC Women's Summit, held from April 2 to 3,
2025, was a gathering like no other. Boxing enthusiasts, active and retired
champions, and supporters of women's boxing came together in an event that was
as informative as it was celebratory. The summit featured panels that discussed
important issues facing women in boxing, including representation, safety, and
career development, ensuring that participants left equipped with valuable
insights.
One of the most interesting aspects of the summit
was the recognition of several extraordinary women who have made significant
contributions to the sport. Awards were presented celebrating their achievements
and inspiring the next generation of female boxers. FULL
