Purpose
The IWBHF seeks to recognize the outstanding athletic achievements/contributions
of the many gifted and dedicated athletes who have participated in the sport,
along with those individuals who have advocated, supported and promoted the
sport of female boxing.
ARTICLE 1
International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame Committee
A. The assigned members of the Hall of Fame Committee will govern the IWBHF and will be
responsible for selecting the inductees. The Committee membership may fluctuate,
in number, at any time, given the specific needs of the IWBHF.
B. The Committee will be comprised of the Founder/President of the IWBHF and voluntary
members.
C. The Founder/President of the IWBHF will be a permanent member of the Committee. All
other voluntary board members will serve according to availability or the
discretion of the IWBHF. Each year the Founder/President of the IWBHF will
announce any changes to the board for the following year.
D. In the event an
individual on the board is nominated as a "candidate" for induction into IWBHF,
that person shall recuse themselves from voting for that induction year.
E. The IWBHF has the exclusive right to make changes yearly or during the
year of the inductions to fulfill what is needed to continue this successful
program to honor the sport in women's boxing.
ARTICLE II Eligibility of Inductees
A. Retired Female Boxers- must be retired from active professional fighting for
three years. Exception: Waiver: No currently active female boxer fighting less than the
five years
unless granted a
waiver approved by the IWBHF. **
B. Pioneer Female Boxers- A Pioneer/Past boxer will be any fighter who fought in
the ring prior to 1990.
C. Non-Participants/Professional Level- Male or female, photographer, judge,
referee, who has spent a minimum of ten years involved with and/or in support of
female boxing.”**
D. Non Participant/Amateur Level- Male or female, photographer, judge, referee,
who has spent a minimum of ten years involved with and/or in support of female
boxing.**
E. Nominations of IWBHF Board
Members to the Hall of Fame -
Should a current board member be nominated for induction into the IWBHF and that
member chooses to be voted upon for induction, the member must resign from their
position with the IWBHF prior to the induction vote taking place. In the case of
a board member who was inducted into the IWBHF prior to joining the board, such
member may retain both their inductee and board membership status.
Waiver: The IWBHF reserves the option to waive the three year retirement
restriction, on a case/case basis.
ARTICLE III
Nominees
A. A nomination may be made, in writing, by anyone in the boxing community.
B. The Board Members shall have the discretion to narrow the field of nominees.
ARTICLE IV
Financing
A. Funds needed to finance the IWBHF will be provided through WBAN [Women Boxing
Archive Network], Sponsorship opportunities by the community worldwide, and
merchandise on the IWBHF and WBAN.
ARTICLE V
Inductees
A. On the IWBHF website there will be a permanent pictorial and written history
of each inductee along with various memorabilia that may be available from the
WBAN Archive.
B. If the WBAN/IWBHF receives sufficient Corporate Sponsorships we will
have an Induction Ceremony to be held in the United States at a variety of
venues. If the funding is not available we will announce and feature our
inductees on the IWBHF.com website to honor them having them permanently listed
on the IWBHF site, as long as the site is online.
